Internal research at Samsung revealed that the majority of users, nearly 8 in 10, regularly use more than two AI agents. The company is working on improving Galaxy AI for the AI future. By adding multi-agent support, Samsung will make the experience of juggling several AIs much smoother.
The revamped Galaxy AI will have integration for AI agents at the OS level. This will help Samsung stay on top of the quickly evolving AI field with seamless integration of new AI agents in a way that is consistent with the familiar Galaxy experience.
Since the integration is at the system level, you will be able to control the different agents without needing to switch between apps or repeat commands. This also gives the agent the context it needs for more natural interactions.
The first new AI agent to join the party is Perplexity. You will be able to summon it by saying “Hey Plex” or by assigning the side button (i.e. the power button) to it. It will be featured on “upcoming flagship Galaxy devices” and, wouldn’t you know it, the Galaxy S26 series is just around the corner.
Plex will be deeply embedded in Samsung’s first-party apps, including Gallery, Notes, Calendar, Clock and Reminder. It will also work with certain third-party apps. The Plex agent is smart enough to handle multi-step workflows.
According to the press release, “additional details about supported devices and experiences will be announced soon”. If we had to guess, the One UI 8.5 update will enable (some or all of) these features on older Galaxy S and Galaxy Z models.

P.S. Samsung unveiled an upgraded Bixby for One UI 8.5 earlier this week. It can change system settings based on natural language prompts (instead of the rigid “turn XYZ on”) and will offer real-time web searches for up-to-date answers to your questions.
